About me
Learn to surf with a true North Carolina local! Raised in Manteo, NC, I’ve been naturally drawn to the ocean and its powerful yet majestic waves since the age of five, when I started going “boogie boarding” out on the beach in Nags Head.
Then, one day in sixth grade, I was confronted by an older surfer out in the lineup named Delbert. He told me that I needed to put the “sponge” down and get on a real board. He brought a board for me to use, gave me pointers, and helped me out in the lineup. From then on out, I started surfing every day during the summer, and that’s when my love affair with surfing began.
I attended college at UNCW and earned a degree in Business Management. I have lived in Wilmington since 2000 and started my surf camp on Figure Eight Island in 2008.
I’ve taught thousands of people how to surf, ranging in age from 4 to 74, and have been teaching since 2008. I have been surfing for over 30 years.
Whether you’re a beginner or just want some improvement tips, I’m a top-notch, very experienced instructor in Wrightsville Beach, Figure 8 Island, Topsail Beach, Carolina Beach, The Outer Banks, and even in Myrtle Beach, SC. Surf with me today!

Our surf lessons are a great way for kids to spend the day playing and relaxing while learning how to handle themselves in the surf. We are qualified and experienced instructors who pride ourselves on teaching a top notch technique that will have you and/or your child going down the line by the end of the week!
